Homestudy Course
This program is designed for students who have never been certified or have allowed their certification to lapse, and wish to meet the mandatory requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for their statewide "Food Employee Certification" program.
It's simple! All you must do is the following...
PART 1: HOMESTUDY
Order our exclusive Homestudy Package.
Use our own easy-to-read "Food Safety Training Manual - Special Pennsylvania Edition" and answer the corresponding questions provided. They are multiple choice questions, where you choose one from A, B, C, or D. Submit your answers to us within 60 days. If you get 70% or better correct, you have passed this part!
PART 2: CLASSROOM STUDY and ServSafe EXAMINATION
Within 90 days after completion of PART 1, attend the SECOND DAY of one of our publicly offered courses (provided seating is available), and take and successfully pass the ServSafe examination.
At this time, all of our publicly offered courses are being held at the Holiday Inn in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. In order to attend the second day of one of our courses and take the required ServSafe examination, you will need to travel to this location. The ServSafe examination is an 80 or 90 question multiple choice examination, and you will need to obtain a 75% or better to receive
your ServSafe certification.
We will provide the course dates and directions to the course location when you register, or you may review this information elsewhere on this website. We will also provide you with the necessary application forms.
NOTICE: We do NOT recommend this program for students who have difficulty reading or writing English. This program is FULLY APPROVED by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for their statewide program. However, some health department jurisdictions may require additional classroom attendance time and therefore may not accept this program as provided. Acceptance of this program is with this understanding. Furthermore, acceptance is with the understanding that the same individual that completes PART 1 must also complete PART 2. There will be no interim substitutions, and no training material sharing permitted. The examination proctor will require a photo ID at the time of the examination for verification and security purposes. No refunds will be provided to any individual who does not successfully complete the program within the allotted time frames, although re-examinations will be offered at the current fee. Also, seating may not always be available for certain courses and is therefore not guaranteed. If you request a certain date and it is closed or cancelled for any reason, you will be granted an appropriate extension commensurate with this delay. We recommend that you register early to avoid being closed out. No postponements accepted and no refunds provided once the scheduled course has begun. All extensions and rescheduling is at the sole discretion of Food Safety Services Inc., and the user will hold Food Safety Services, Inc. and its agents harmless in any event. Liability under any circumstances is limited only to the course fee, at a maximum.
